The basic philosophy is that you should achieve good levels of fitness (quite quickly!!) and from this reap the health benefits of being fit. This positive environment and feeling of being fit and healthy will in turn motivate you to lead as healthy a lifestyle as possible.
That each of us must try to make the best decisions we can 95% of the time. Little treats, wine with friends are necessary and okay, so long as for rest of the time, you train intelligently and often and make the best food choices you can.
